Stephen Lin, M.D., is the Chief Safety Officer, Vice President, and Head of Global Medical Safety for the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson. Prior to joining J&J, Steve was the Chief Safety Officer, Senior Vice President, and Global Head of Pharmacovigilance at Sanofi, where he had spent most of his time in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Steve joined Aventis Pharmaceuticals, a Sanofi legacy company, in 2002 as a Global Safety Officer. Subsequently, he spent 2006 to 2007 as the Deputy Head of Pharmacovigilance at Millennium Pharmaceuticals in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Steve then returned to Sanofi as a PV Project Leader before becoming the Head of Diabetes Safety Surveillance & Risk Management (SSRM) and then the Global Head of SSRM. During his time as Global Head of SSRM, he also served as Head of Global Pharmacovigilance & Epidemiology, Ad Interim, from March 2014 until January 2015.  In addition, while at Sanofi, he spent 1 ½ years in Medical Affairs as the Head of Strategic Planning & Operations in North America Medical Affairs and then as Head of Global & US Medical Operations in Diabetes & Cardiovascular Medical Affairs.

Steve received his undergraduate training at The Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine. He did his internal medicine residency and endocrinology fellowship at the University of Maryland. Prior to joining the industry, Steve was a practicing physician with a part-time appointment in the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, at the NYU Tisch Medical Center.
