Cristian Massacesi, M.D. is Executive Vice President, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Development at Bristol Myers Squibb. In this role, he oversees early- and late-stage product development—including more than 100 ongoing clinical trials—across the organization’s core therapeutic areas: oncology/hematology, neuroscience, immunology, and cardiovascular disorders.
Previously, he served as Chief Medical Officer across AstraZeneca and its subsidiary, Alexion, where he led a global team that advanced over 150 clinical studies and secured multiple regulatory approvals. He also held senior R&D roles across oncology programs at Pfizer and Novartis.
Cristian earned his medical degree from Marche Polytechnic University and received medical oncology training at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Kaplan Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the European Institute of Oncology.
